Kaia is an award-winning novelist, screenwriter and teacher. Her books include the historical novel, Written in the Ashes (Harper Collins, 2016) about the burning of the Great Library of Alexandria, Egypt; Mockingbird in Mark Twain’s Hat a novel for children, Inner Guide Meditation: A World of Answers Awaits Within you (Waterside 2020). She’s also a belated screenwriter.
Kaia hails from a lineage of southern women writers and journalists, and she was destined to carry on the tradition. Her great-grandmother, Nonni, ran a small newspaper in Earl, Arkansas in the late 1800’s. Kaia met author Tom Robbins on the island of Maui at the home of Dr. John Lilly, and they’ve been pen pals for over 25 years. She was mentored by late comedian Garry Shandling, with whom she bonded over Zen, camping, jokes, and basketball.

Kaia is the founder of the Entertainment Business League for womxn, and the Entertainment Business Wisdom Summit. She’s been a digital marketing consultant for over a decade. Business wisdom is hard won, and she’s got lots to share. Education for womxn professionals about how to get ahead – especially as a creative – is her wheelhouse. Soon she will offer courses and a flagship coaching program.

A movie nerd from childhood, Kaia has worked in the film business for decades. After directing The Magique Bazaar, California’s largest touring magic show, she realized that the director’s chair was her intended throne. She was a development executive on the feature films JUST FRIENDS, PEACEFUL WARRIOR and THE GOOD NIGHT. Then as a digital marketing consultant, she supervised the ground-breaking online self-distribution of several profitable docu-series.
She’s currently directing her first feature documentary Chalice: Wise Women Rise.
Kaia is the founder and author of Inner Guide Meditation. She taught yoga and meditation professionally until her son was born. She holds 7 yoga teaching certifications, and has been featured on Katie Couric, and in Yoga Journal, Wanderlust, the Bodhi Tree, and Health Magazine.
Nature + Travel = Happiness. As a teenager Kaia founded the youth division of the Humane Society of the United States, and spoke at the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit. She works to protect the ocean and playful creatures she surfs with. A California girl at heart she can be found most days at her desk or offshore with the sea tangled in her hair. She leads writer retreats to surf and swim with wild dolphins.
